The Rotary Club of Ancaster AM donated $1,000 to The Net, a local youth group.
At a recent regular Thursday morning Zoom meeting, the Rotary Club of Ancaster AM made a $1000 donation towards Ancaster Community Services’ The Net’s holiday fundraiser: “Santa to a Senior”. The Net is a local youth organization right here in Ancaster. Throughout the year, it put’s on multiple youth-geared events and activities, all driven mainly by youth volunteers. In response to current COVID-19 restrictions, the group put on a number of virtual activities such as Instagram live trivia, Zoom coffee houses and much more. The Net also does a lot of good in the community, in coordination with Ancaster Community Services.
The “Santa to a Senior” campaign is being headed up by the Net Youth Team and Net volunteers will be involved with the creation of gift bags with accompanying items and gifts within. The donation from Ancaster Rotary will allow the Net to create 40 gift bags which will be gifted to in-need seniors within Ancaster.
With all that has happened in the last number of months, the Rotary Club of Ancaster AM has turned its focus to the community in which it resides. The club recently concluded a summerlong bottle drive campaign, in which empties were collected in order to raise money for the club’s Youth programs.
“This is our third donation to youth groups out of our bottle drive funds. We continue to look for opportunities to support our community.” - Murray Green, club President
The club has also expanded its membership by over 30% and is looking to take on even more members who want to get involved within the community. The Rotary Club of Ancaster AM meets weekly via the online meeting platform Zoom and ask that any interested individuals visit https://www.ancasterrotaryam.org/ for the meeting schedules and just how you can become a member of Rotary.
